Texas Theatre

A note from Adam Donaghey:

Friends,

Come celebrate our newly renovated Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff with a good 'ol fashioned ribbon cutting. Mayor Tom Leppert will do the honors; there will be eggnog and hors d'oeuvres, several special guests (see below), and a free screening of holiday fave "Planes, Trains & Automobiles"!

Following is all the information on the event and attached is a flyer.

I'll be attending both of these events and you should too!

Best,
Adam

Aviation Cinemas and Dallas City Councilwoman Delia Jasso Announce a Holiday Housewarming party and ribbon cutting ceremony at the historic Texas Theatre on Thursday, Dec. 9th from 5pm – 7:00pm.

Special Guest Mayor Tom Leppert, City Councilwoman Delia Jasso, Members of the local and national Media, Dallas City Officials, the Oak Cliff Board, friends of the Texas Theatre, Aviation Cinemas Partners and Staff will be on hand to usher in the Holidays in a good ‘ol fashioned Texas way: a ribbon cutting, a classic film and enough eggnog to last all winter long.

With special appearances from Gary Mack, Historian, JFK Assassination Expert and Curator at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza; as well as Ron Jackson (Actor) who played the FBI Spokesman in Oliver Stone’s film “JFK”; and Retired Dallas Police Officer Henry “Hank” Horn, Jr. - one of the first Officers on the scene at the Texas Theatre to arrest Lee Harvey Oswald in 1963.

“The Texas Theatre remains a significant part of the Kennedy assassination story, and The Sixth Floor Museum is pleased that efforts to restore and return the theater to life are finally being realized” said Sixth Floor Museum Curator Gary Mack.

Aviation Cinemas is excited to add Mr. Mack and Mr. Horn to the guest list as one of the major goals for the company is to preserve the history of the Texas Theatre and all those involved in its early days.

Doors open at 5pm with cocktails and appetizers for attendees. At 5:25 Special Guest Mayor Tom Leppert will speak and officially cut the ribbon on the newly renovated theatre. City Councilwoman Delia Jasso, who was been integral in the revitalization efforts of the Theatre and throughout Oak Cliff, will speak next as the group enters the space for a tour. At 7:00pm there will be a special screening of the classic holiday comedy “Plains Trains and Automobiles” inside the theatre. Dress is business casual or your favorite Holiday sweater / turtleneck and jacket combo.
